A Photograph at Architectural Scale
A framed print is an object on a wall. A photo wall mural is the wall. Once an image is eight or twelve feet wide, the viewer stops looking at a picture and starts standing inside a place — which is why photographic murals work so well on the wall you see first when you walk into a room.
We print photographs directly onto the surface with a vertical UV printer. There is no wallpaper panel, no vinyl and no seam running through the middle of a face or a horizon line. The ink cures on contact, so the image is finished the moment the printer passes.

They show the two directions portrait murals usually take — either faithful skin, hair and catchlight detail at a scale that makes the subject present in the room, or a stylised treatment where colour is pushed and the photograph becomes graphic.
Both start from the same requirement: a real file with real detail behind it.
What Makes a File Work, in Plain Language
- Send the original. Straight from the camera or the phone gallery — not a version that has been messaged, posted or screenshotted. Each of those steps throws away detail permanently.
- Sharp beats big. A crisp 12-megapixel photo prints better than a blurry 40-megapixel one. Nothing recovers focus that was missed at capture.
- Viewing distance decides the limit. A corridor wall people brush past needs far more detail than a lobby wall viewed from twenty feet.
- Shape matters. Camera frames are 3:2 or 4:3; walls are whatever they are. Expect a re-crop, and tell us what must stay in frame.
- Light and shadow. Deep shadow areas that look fine on a bright screen can read as flat black at wall size. We check and adjust for that.
Every file is tested before we quote. If an image will not hold up at the size you want, we say so and offer options: print smaller, re-crop to the strongest part, upscale carefully, or reshoot.
Colour, Contrast and How the Wall Changes the Image
A screen emits light; a wall reflects it. That means a photograph on the wall behaves like a print, not like your phone — highlights sit slightly softer and very saturated screen colours move a little. We colour-manage each file for the print process, and we show the result in the free wall preview so the version you approve is the version you get. Room lighting matters too: warm downlights will warm a mural, and we can adjust the file to compensate.

Frequently Asked Questions
What resolution does my photo need to be?
As a plain rule: the more pixels the better, and the further back people stand the less it matters. A phone photo taken in good light at 12 megapixels is often enough for a wall viewed from across a room; a portrait people will stand a foot away from wants the original camera file rather than a copy pulled from social media. Send whatever you have and we will tell you honestly how large it can go before it softens.
Can you use a photo from Instagram or a screenshot?
Sometimes, at smaller sizes. Social platforms compress and downscale images, so those copies carry a fraction of the original detail. We always ask for the original file from the camera or phone gallery first, and we test the file before quoting so nobody is surprised at the wall.
Will the colours match my screen?
Print and backlit screens work differently, so we colour-manage the file for the wall rather than matching a monitor exactly. Very saturated screen blues and greens shift slightly. We flag anything we expect to move and show it in the preview so there are no surprises.
Can you retouch or extend my photo to fit the wall?
Yes. Walls are rarely the same proportion as a camera frame, so most projects need a re-crop, a background extension or light retouching. That work is quoted with the job and shown to you in the free wall preview before printing.
